Arts, Entertainment and Culture Play Key Role in Revitalizing Michigan. The Michigan Prosperity Agenda is a monthly radio show that challenges listeners to help make Michigan a better place to live, work and play by creating vibrant and prosperous local communities. It will air on News/Talk 760 WJR at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month throughout 2010, except for September when it will air on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m.. The hour-long radio program is hosted by Dan Gilmartin, CEO of the Michigan Municipal League (the League). The show is sponsored by the League and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA).
The March 24 Prosperity Agenda Radio Show on News/Talk 706 WJR was about the role arts, entertainment and culture play in building a vibrant community. The show featured Michigan Municipal League CEO Dan Gilmartin and guest co-host Paul Schutt, co-founder and CEO of Issue Media Group. Michigan can retain our local talent and recent college graduates by creating communities where they will want to live and work. During the show we heard from Ken Nacci, president of Downtown Kalamazoo Inc.; Carol Coletta is president and CEO of Chicago-based CEOs for Cities; Sean Mann of the Let’s Save Michigan effort (letssavemichigan.com); and Vincent Kitch, formerly of Lansing and now heavily involved in the arts, entertainment and cultural community in Austin, Texas. Kitch is currently Cultural Arts Program Manager at the City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division This show aired in March, but you can listen any time here (http://www.mml.org/radioshow/prosperity-agenda.html) and here (http://www.prosperity-agenda.com) or by going to www.mml.org and clicking on the orange "Prosperity Agenda" logo.
